In 1718 the family Jordan, who had immigrated to the Palatinate winegrowing region some years before, founded their winery in the village of Deidesheim. From that time on the family has been promoting the development of fine-wine-production in their region, always accompanied by the noble grape variety Riesling. Over the years their wines have been tasted by kings and cellors and even the most prominent poet of Germany, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, enjoyed having a glass of Bassermann-Jordan.
