Sauvignac - a name we like to get used to! The new variety has only been around since 2014 and initially had to get by with the technical name VB Cal 604. Nevertheless, it quickly gained the trust of winemakers, which is certainly due to its good parentage: Sauvignon Blanc promises an expressive, exotic aroma with green hints of paprika and gooseberry. As the second parent, Riesling brings citrus notes, acidity and body into play. And in third place, a secret resistance partner makes winegrowers happy. As a PIWI variety, Sauvignac is very resistant to the usual vine diseases. Henrik Schweder from Hochstadt in the southern Palatinate must have thought so too: his Sauvignac with tropical fruit tastes so good that we have secured it as a BASF exclusive wine!
